We are currently seeking an experienced Mechanic for the cruise vessel Vasco Da Gama , with embarkation scheduled for 02 July . Contract Duration: 9 months ± 1 month Requirements: Proven experience serving in the rank of Mechanic onboard passenger vessels or comparable vessels. All STCW certificates and documents must be valid and up to date. Strong technical knowledge and practical experience in machinery maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting. Good employment references and positive recommendations from previous employers. Ability to work effectively within a multicultural team environment while demonstrating professionalism, reliability, and a strong work ethic. Position Summary Responsible to carry out the daily maintenance and cleaning of engines and mechanical equipment as directed by the Engineer in charge. Reporting Structure Reporting to the Staff Engineer and on duty Engineer. Safety Duties: Participates in crew safety drills according to instructions. Must always comply with the Company’s safety and pollution prevention regulations and operating procedures. Leads by example by taking care of Health and Safety of self and others. Ensures that all work equipment, personal protective equipment, chemicals and safety devices are being used correctly. Education/Experience/Qualifications: Valid STCW 95 certification. Valid ASE Certification A-III/5. Good knowledge of mechanics, hydraulics, operation and maintenance of vessel machinery and mechanical equipment. Experience with stripping engines down and rebuilding. Experience on vessels in an equivalent positon. Physically and medically fit. Moral integrity is required. Language requirements: Excellent fluent English (verbal, written and technical). English is the working and safety language on board. This also includes the ability to give and receive instructions in verbal and written forms and to effectively and efficiently engage with guests and crew members. Additional languages are considered beneficial. Physical Demands and Working Conditions: Required to stand, walk long distances, reaching and sitting. Repetitive motion of bending, going up and down stairs, climbing ladders. Lifting or pushing of up to 50lbs. The position requires overtime work and irregular schedules. Works in the Engine Control Room, Engine spaces with noise, light traffic, distracting environments. Profile: Punctual. Proactive approach to problem solving. Ability to be flexible, well organised, self managed and motivated. Ability to handle multiple demands, remain calm and effective under pressure and resolve issues quickly. Safe, professional and personal practices. Well acquainted with VMS and MLC requirements. Well-groomed and neat appearance. Ability to work in confined spaces. Ability to live in close quarters, share limited space with cabin mates. Ability to deliver a high standard of technical performance. Status - Rating. Salary - Refer to contract.
