1. No Verification of Documents
CertVault provides a platform for Workers to upload, store, and share professional certificates, licences, and compliance documents. CertVault does not verify, authenticate, or certify the accuracy, validity, currency, or authenticity of any document uploaded to the platform.
Specifically, CertVault does not:
- Confirm that a certificate, licence, or qualification was actually issued by the stated authority.
- Verify that a Worker holds the qualifications, skills, or experience described in their profile.
- Confirm that any document is currently valid and has not been suspended, revoked, or cancelled.
- Guarantee that expiry dates displayed are accurate — these are entered by Workers and not independently validated.
- Perform background checks, reference checks, or employment screening.
AI-generated completeness scores do not verify document authenticity, worker skills, or job suitability and must not be the sole basis for hiring decisions. CertVault uses AI (provided by Anthropic) to automatically compare claimed qualifications against uploaded documents and generate a convenience score. This score is an aid for surfacing potentially incomplete profiles; it does not replace employer due diligence, reference checks, or verification of claims with issuing authorities. Workers may opt out of AI-based scoring by emailing legal@certvaultapp.com, or by toggling AI scoring off in your profile settings.
2. Security Scanning Limitation
All uploaded documents are scanned for malware and security threats using automated third-party scanning software. This scanning:
- Is limited to detecting malicious code, viruses, and similar threats.
- Does not verify the content, authenticity, or accuracy of the document.
- Does not constitute a guarantee that a document is legitimate or free from fraud.
A "clean" scan result means no malware was detected — it does not mean the document is genuine.
3. Employer Responsibility
Employers accessing Worker documents through CertVault are solely responsible for:
- Conducting their own due diligence, verification, and authentication of any documents before relying on them.
- Independently confirming the validity of licences, qualifications, and certifications with the relevant issuing authority.
- Making their own employment decisions based on their own assessment — CertVault does not make or endorse any employment recommendations.
- Compliance with all applicable employment, health and safety, and anti-discrimination laws.
CertVault accepts no liability for any loss, damage, injury, or adverse outcome arising from an Employer's reliance on documents viewed through the platform without independent verification.
4. Worker Responsibility
Workers are solely responsible for:
- The accuracy, currency, and authenticity of every document they upload.
- Promptly removing or updating documents that expire, are revoked, or are otherwise no longer valid.
- Ensuring they hold all relevant qualifications and licences for any work they undertake.
Uploading a false, forged, or misrepresented document may constitute a criminal offence under the Criminal Code Act 1995 (Cth) and applicable state and territory laws.
5. No Professional Advice
Nothing on the CertVault platform constitutes legal, employment, health and safety, or professional advice of any kind. You should seek independent professional advice before making any employment, compliance, or legal decision.
6. Platform Availability
CertVault is provided on an "as available" basis. We do not guarantee that the platform will be available at all times, free from errors, or that data will not be lost. We recommend that all users maintain their own copies of important documents independently of CertVault.
7. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, CertVault (Australian sole trader) expressly disclaims all liability for any loss or damage of any kind arising from:
- Reliance on any document stored or displayed on the platform.
- Any employment decision made on the basis of a Worker's CertVault profile.
- Platform downtime, data loss, or technical failures.
- Any act or omission of a Worker or Employer using the platform, except where the loss arises from CertVault's negligent failure to take reasonable action in response to a credible report of misconduct or breach received via the channels published in our Acceptable Use Policy or this Disclaimer.
Nothing in this Disclaimer limits our liability under the Australian Consumer Law for consumer guarantees that cannot lawfully be excluded.
